What we do
The Honest Spinner is a small independent publication about online slot games and the terms attached to casino bonus offers.
Bonus terms are written to be technically accurate and practically unreadable. A “100% up to €200” headline can sit on top of a 45× wagering requirement, a €5 maximum bet while the bonus is active, a seven-day expiry, and a game-weighting table that quietly excludes most of the titles you would actually want to play. All of that is disclosed. Almost none of it is legible.
We write the version a person can read in two minutes: what the offer is worth in practice, what you have to do to release it, and which clause is most likely to cost you the balance.
How we read terms
Every write-up follows the same four steps, in the same order, so that two reviews can be compared:
- Archive first. We save the terms page as we found it, with the date. Terms change; our note says which version we read.
- Restate the offer arithmetically. Headline amount, wagering multiple, what the multiple applies to (bonus only, or deposit plus bonus — the difference is usually a factor of two), and the resulting turnover.
- Find the binding constraint. Usually it is not the wagering multiple. It is the maximum bet while wagering, the expiry window, or the game weighting.
- State the published RTP and where it came from. If an operator does not publish it, we say that instead of estimating it.
We do not play through offers to “test” them. A single run tells you nothing about a distribution, and presenting one session as evidence would be the same sleight of hand we write about.
The newsletter
One email, most weeks: the offers we looked at, the clause that mattered, and anything that changed in terms we had already covered. No affiliate links in the newsletter.
Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and most mail clients will also show their own unsubscribe button on it, so you can leave without opening the message at all. One click is enough — there is no confirmation step and no “are you sure”.
We also write to site owners, operators and other publishers about corrections and content partnerships. If you would rather not hear from us again, say so in a reply and that is the end of it.
Contact
- Editorial, corrections, right of reply
- Reply to any email you have received from us — replies reach the people who write this.
- Unsubscribe or data removal
- Use the unsubscribe link in any email we sent you, or just say so in a reply.
If we got a fact wrong, tell us with the source. We correct in place and note what changed and when.
Privacy, briefly
What we hold, and nothing else:
- Your email address, if you subscribed or if we wrote to you about your site.
- Whether a message was delivered, so we stop sending to addresses that bounce.
- Your unsubscribe, permanently. We keep that record specifically so we cannot mail you again by accident. It is the one thing we will not delete on request — deleting it would undo the opt-out.
We do not sell or share address lists. This site sets no cookies, loads no fonts, scripts or images from other domains, and runs no analytics — open the page source and you can check that in full.
18+. Gambling involves risk of losing money. The Honest Spinner is a publisher. We do not operate games, accept stakes, or hold a gambling licence, and nothing here is an inducement to gamble. If your play has stopped feeling like a choice, free and confidential help is available — in the UK through BeGambleAware, and through the national helpline in most other jurisdictions.
